“His name shall be called John” Luke 1:59-60 “And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father. 60 And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.” I am suspecting that there were many family members and friends that stayed close to and took an interest in Elizabeth during her pregnancy. And, in the light of this, most likely, had and opinion of two about child and obviously according to the scriptures what he should be named. In fact, when he was born they called him, after the name of his father, Zacharias. But, Elizabeth knowing the will of God said “His named will be John.” It was normal for a child to be named after his father, or at least a relative; however, Gods’ thoughts in this case differed from mans’ thoughts. In the Christian life and concerning all of our lives God’s thoughts about many things diverge from our thoughts. It is the responsibility of all of us to seek and find God’s ways over ours. It is not right to endeavor to bring God to our philosophies and principles, but to let God bring us to His. Whether it be fashions, music, entertainment, doctrine, service, priorities, or whatever; let’s seek the knowledge and wisdom of God and conform to it. Pastor Wilson 4-28-2014
