Historian to Present Normandy: Before and After D-Day in Abilene and Salina ABILENE, Kan. - Historian Dominique Francois will present Normandy: Before and After D-Day in two locations on Friday, May 2. The first program will be held at 1 p.m. in the Eisenhower Presidential Library building auditorium. A limited number of Francois book Normandy: From D-Day to the Breakout: June 6-July 31, 1944 will be available for purchase. Francois will later speak in Salina at 7 p.m. in Sams Chapel on the Kansas Wesleyan University campus. Francois will present a visual program and discuss the Nazi occupation of Normandy, the Allied invasion and liberation of France. Francois father grew up in Normandy and witnessed first-hand these events. A French military historian, Francois specializes in D-Day and the subsequent Normandy military campaign. He has written 15 books on the subject and has served as a consultant for the History Channel, NBC Channel and Inertia Films. He currently resides in Normandy, France. Francois presentation at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Kansas Wesleyan University is made possible through the generosity of the William T. Kemper Foundation. This program supplements the World War II Remembered: Leaders, Battles & Heroes exhibit currently on display in the Museum. The exhibit is a three-year commemoration of WWII marking the 70th anniversaries of the war and its aftermath as told through personal stories.
