The coldest December during thirty five years was in 1876 with an average of 25 degrees, and the warmest in 1889 with an average of 30. The highest December temperature recorded was 74 degrees on December 31, 1875. The lowest was 14 degrees on December 24, 1872. The greatest amount of snowfall in any consecutive twenty four hours in December since 1884, was 8 inches on December 24 and 25, 1880.
