Historically Gazipur is the bastion of Awami League. The margin of defeat is really remarkable for the 14 party supported candidate against candidate supported by 18 party alliance probably justifies that elections can be fair and free under the partisan government. Saying so, if next general election is held under caretaker government with the popular support as evidenced in last few elections, what will be the results? With this absolute majority, why the ruling party failed to understand the spirit of the mass and failed to deliver? Was not this the same with opposition while having the absolute majority in the last parliament? The democracy works well with proper check and balance having a strong opposition in Parliament.
