History has been made. Congratulations, Albanian OCS Class 001!!! Brig. Gen. James Grant, Chief of the Joint Staff, New Jersey National Guard, Maj. Gen. Jeronim Bazo, Chief of General Staff for the Albanian Armed Forces, Lt. Col. Bilbil Bitri, Chief of Cabinet to the Albanian Chief of Defense and Albanian Ambassador to the United States Gilbert Galanxhi, join hundreds of guests to recognize 24 Albanian soldiers graduating from the New Jersey National Guard Officer Candidate School program in Lawrenceville, NJ on July 29. This historic occasion marks the first time a State Partnership Program (SPP) country has sent its Officer Candidates to the United States to attend a National Guard-run Officer Candidate School. For nearly two decades, the New Jersey National Guard and the Republic of Albania has fostered and nurtured a healthy relationship through the National Guard Bureaus State Partnership Program. Through SPP, the National Guard conducts military-to-military engagements in support of defense security goals but also leverages whole-of-society relationships and capabilities to facilitate broader interagency and corollary engagements spanning military, government, economic and social spheres.
