The Razakars (volunteers), a Muslim paramilitary organization aimed at sabotaging Hindus in Deccan, was directly linked to the MIM. In total up to 150,000 Razakar soldiers were mobilized to fight against the Indian Union and for the independence of the Hyderabad State against Indian integration and to force its eventual merger into Pakistan instead. After the integration of the Hyderabad state with India, the MIM was banned in 1948 till 1957. The MIM president and Razakar leader Qasim Rizvi was jailed from 1948 to 1957, and then he was left on the condition to go to Pakistan, where he was granted asylum.[6] Entry into Maharastra AIMIM made its entry into Maharashtra state by winning 13 seats in Nanded-Waghala city municipal council polls held on October 2012. AIMIM had contested 45 seats. AIMIM made its entry into Karnataka state by capturing 35 seats in Karnataka Urban Body Elections held in March 2013. AIMIM got succeeded in the Bidar and Basavakalyan of Karnataka state.
