Ive watched hundreds of noirs plus several dozen neo noirs and I dont feel or see any true noir qualities in a Hitchcock movie no matter the subject or settings. What I do see is his influence on all genres. Noir Directors, screenwriters and art directors are drawing from similar traditions as Hitch but coming up with a different Kind of Cinema. Hitch was inventing the craft. Hitch could never have made Double Indemnity he was too clean in his outlook. Though I admit his personal life might have served as a subject for noir.
