Hmmm ... I agree with Roger 90+% of the time but disagree on this. Taking earnings from the Permanent Fund while there are still significant earnings coming from oil (and even at current prices todays earnings are still significant compared to the out years) is simply forcing tax increases on future generations. If this generation wants more government than the current, sustainable level of revenues (about $4.5 billion) can provide, then this generation needs to pay for it itself (through taxes) and not shift that burden to future generations by dipping into their share. Its time to face up to the fact that Alaska simply is living beyond its means and the solution shouldnt be to take from future generations means to make up for shortfalls in our own. ow.ly/3v9Msw
