Hmmm... I never really thought of that possibility before. The article does bring up some good points. One of the points its brings up makes me wonder a lot too, if perhaps this is really the reason. You gotta figure that the government paid several hundred billion dollars (ridiculous) for these exchanges to be developed. They were years in the making, and the same development company has done the exact same thing for other countries with no major issues. The point in question is essentially, why were these exchanges setup the way they were? In order to even get a quote, you have to enter TONS of personal information (which is what causes the bottleneck (too much information, too little bandwidth)). Yet, if I wanted an insurance quote from say GIEKO, all I have to do is enter basic information (state, age, make, model etc) and BAM! I get a quote. THEN I apply with all my personal information if I like the quote. If I dont, I can easily go to another site and do basically the same thing. So...in all their great wisdom, with billions of dollars, why couldnt they set this up the same way? Enter your age, race, zip code, maybe even have a list of pre-existing conditions etc. Then, if you like the quote (which with Obamacrap it doesnt matter, you get what you get its the law Ooooo...) you apply with all of your personal information. From an IT perspective, that is probably one of the best ways of handling the millions of quotes you would need to generate daily. Have each of those millions only submit one, maybe two, pages of information versus ten plus pages at a time. To me, it just makes sense. From a political perspective, this is exactly how I would want it set up! Oh, its the law. Youre gonna apply anyhow, lets just get it outta the way now. Oh! By the way, here are some subsides you qualify for! Just....you know....ignore that first quote that popped up...your good ole Uncle Sam will handle that for you! (or...the next healthy guy under 25 who applies...) Seriously, I get pissed if I pay $60 for a game I beat in an hour. If I paid hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars for a friggin website, and it fails within 2 days....you better believe that every last penny is coming out of that developers ass!
