Hoarding Dog Update Tear Jerker - Last fall after 7 years, HT - TopicsExpress

Hoarding Dog Update Tear Jerker - Last fall after 7 years, HT finally concluded a case against a Goochland woman who had been hoarding hundreds of dogs. Having to move 100+ dogs off her property in just a few days was a daunting task. We were thrilled and grateful when several nearby shelters stepped up and agreed to take dogs into their programs. Our good friends at the Richmond SPCA offered to take two senior bonded dogs in - Sunny and Adam. Both were old, in poor health and clearly yearning for easier times ahead. The owner/hoarder was insisting on euthanizing the dogs, believing they stood no chance at a happy future. But HT and the SPCA worked closely to remove the two and get them to safety. Even if these two only had months to live, we all agreed that we would give them that opportunity! The Richmond SPCA took them in and immediately saw to their medical needs, fattening them up, getting them vaccinated and giving the first indoor home they had in years. Their happy ending story is below.....and will bring tears to your eyes. These two dogs lived years and years outdoors 24/7 with no walks, no beds, no medical care and often times little food. They now will live their final years with everything they deserve...all thanks to the great work and supporters of the Richmond SPCA! We give a happy, thankful shout out to Sunny and Adam and their amazing adopters and thank the Richmond SPCA for making this happen. THIS is what rescue and collaboration is all about. These cuties now enjoy soft beds, walks in the garden and all the hugs and love a dog could want. And we could not be any happier for them.
