Hocker, Thompson at Republican’s Event Honoring Ketcham, Takacs by Tom Derderian Chris Hocker and Michael Thompson, Republican candidates for First Selectman and Selectman, will be appearing at the Redding Republicans Pig Roast on Sunday, September 29th. This year’s event is honoring 14-year Redding First Selectman Natalie Ketcham and 10-year Selectman Donald Takacs. The candidates will both have an opportunity to address the group as part of the event. A large crowd is expected to be on hand to express their thanks to these two popular town officials, who both announced earlier this year that they would not seek re-election. Included among expected guests are Christopher Shays, who represented the 4th District in the U.S. Congress for 21 years; Redding’s State Senator Toni Boucher (R-26); and Redding State Representatives John Shaban (R-135) and Dan Carter (R-2). Mr. Shaban recently announced his candidacy for next years 4th District Congressional race, which would put him against the incumbent Democrat, Jim Himes. Also expected to be on hand is Hank Bielawa, Redding’s First Selectman for 10 years prior to Natalie Ketcham as well as a 4-year State Representative for the 2nd District. Ms. Ketcham has previously expressed her support of Chris Hocker and Michael Thompson as candidates for First Selectman and Selectman, saying “Chris and Mike will lead Redding with the dedication and care that have made us one of the best small towns in Connecticut.” The pig roast will be held at the Redding Community Center on Lonetown Road from 4-7PM on Sunday, September 29th and, like last year, will also include a silent auction, featuring many exciting items donated by members, friends and local merchants. The menu will consist of a succulent roast pig with all the fixin’s, appetizers, side dishes, salads and dessert as well as an open bar serving wine, beer and soft drinks. Admission is $40 per person in advance ($45 per person at the door). Children under 12 are free. Space is limited and RSVP’s are encouraged. RSVP to [email protected] or by calling (203) 837-6241.
