Hola de Nuevo and here is the rest of the story of Santiago and the narco! So the day after the party, Santiago is on his most important mission EVER for the narco. Now I have to confess something. Even though I do not speak Spanish and am trying to learn it from novelas and I generally understand 83% of what is happening (which is a novels miracle), I have absolutely no idea what the narco has Santiago doing on these missions. I cannot figure out what the narco has Santiago doing, except I know it is cartel business because the narco is giving the orders, and all of the men who work for him have scruffy beards. Every time he sends Santiago off on one of these awfully big adventures, it looks like a scene from a James Bond movie (does this make the narcotrafficante Miss Moneypenny?), but I cannot follow what is happening! But it always seems to be some sort of test. So Santiago shows up for this latest assignment looking very much like a tough narco. There is something involving a truck full of cocaine. But I cant tell you if Santiago is supposed to steal the truck, drive the truck, let the air out of the trucks tires, spraypaint graffiti on the side of the truck, pretend the truck hit him to fake a great personal injury suit- I DONT understand!! Its KILLING me, right? So Santiago is stalking around the truck, and he knows that the narco and his henchmen are watching him, to make sure he completes his assignment, whatever that is. At this point, Santiago acts as though maybe he is learning Spanish from novelas too, because he looks as confused as I feel. Then suddenly, PANCHO the Chief of Police and childhood BFF of Santiago pulls up, after earlier running out of the police station leaving his Deputy SiFuentes to handle Santa the Decapitator and Mara the Poisoner (AND their mothers, which is the hard part, since both of those girls have been framed and their moms are really mad), because he got a tip that a major drug deal is about to take place in a part of the fictional town of Marrero that looks a lot like Ft Lauderdale. So PANCHO pulls up just as Santiago is about to either take the cocaine truck away from someone, or give the cocaine truck to someone. (I know one thing, guys who look like Santiago generally arent seen driving trucks full of cocaine around. Guys who look like Santiago usually go into acting.) PANCHO tells Santiago to drop his gun, and that he is under arrest. Santiago suddenly shoots Pancho to death. It was stunning. In the meantime, the narco, who has been watching it all and wishing he had some popcorn, cannot believe how great Santiago is and is thinking about a raise and a better benefit package. The narco then flees the scene, because in less than a month, the fictional town of Marrero has lost its second police chief (although the first one, Carlos, was not exactly killed in the line of duty. He was killed after kidnapping Ivan, and was about to kill him, when Patricio showed up, killed Carlos, and framed Ivan.) The narco takes off because he does not want to be there when the police show up. He could not be happier, because he loves when anything bad happens. Even if it doesnt concern him, the narco likes bad things happening on principle. Like if he could have seen Danielle Cano going through drug withdrawal on her kitchen floor, the narco would have bought everyone a round. After the narco and his henchmen drive away, Santiago walks over to Pancho and kicks him in the leg. Which was surprisingly cold for Santiago. Except guess who is not dead, was just play-acting dead, and wearing a bullet-proof vest? PANCHO! He and Santiago cooked this up to prank the narco! If history has taught us anything, next up, the narco will get some crank phone calls from a disembodied voice pretending to be the ghost of Pancho. But only if were lucky. So now the narco thinks Santiago killed Pancho. Will Pancho have to disappear? Will SiFuentes take over until the investigation is over? How much disruption can the Marrero Police Department take? Maybe Pancho can go hide out at the boardinghouse since he likes Ulysses... I cant wait to see how Pancho and Santiago use this ploy tomorrow! Well, theres the #SantaDiabla update! Enjoy y muy muenas niches!
