Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. There may be debates as to where these quotes originated, but the message is undoubtedly pure. Forgiveness is essential. Make no mistake. Hate, contempt, anger....while they might serve a purpose, initially, upon being offended (natural self defense mechanism), if held on to past removal from further threat, these things are TOXIC to the host. To be clear, it doesnt automatically follow that the offender should be welcome, unconditionally, in your life. Forgiveness doesnt excuse the wrong-doing, it simply hinders that experience from destroying YOUR inner peace. Holding on to that anger gives the experience permission to re-offend you upon every painful remembrance. Dont give away your power and NEVER sacrifice your own inner peace. Choose to unburden yourself and FORGIVE. - Prince Ea
