Hollyoaks: Ashley Taylor Dawson reveals he isn’t allowed any time off for Strictly Come Dancing! Working on an award-winning soap is a full time job, especially when you are one of the main characters involved in one of the biggest storylines of the year. Thrown in a new baby and appearing on one of the country’s most popular, and gruelling reality shows and you have yourself a Christmas so busy you might just miss it if you blink! Well, this is precisely the situation that Hollyoaks star Ashley Taylor Dawson has found himself in, and has admitted that the workload is pretty severe! Taylor-Dawson, who fan of Hollyoaks will know plays Darren Osborne, paired with Ola Jordan, began his Strictly Come Dancing adventure, three months ago, and was quickly tipped as one of this year’s front runners. Taylor-Dawson began an intense training programme for the show, between filming for Hollyoaks and tending to his heavily pregnant partner. Now the baby is here it hadn’t got easier as he juggles both workloads, with limited sleep, whilst his character remains at the forefront of most Hollyoaks episodes. Taylor-Dawson’s character, Darren, is currently preparing for a new arrival himself, blissfully unaware that his girlfriend Sienna (Anna Passey) isn’t really pregnant, or that she is holding his surrogate brother, Tom Cunningham, hostage to keep her secret from being exposed. The storyline is set for more dramatic twists and turns as the week’s progress, and now Taylor-Dawson has admitted he is starting to feel the strain of his ridiculously busy schedule. Discussing the situation with The Mirror newspaper, Ashley commented: “I’m worried, I don’t know how I’m going to cope. It’s been mental. I rehearse until one in the morning and start filming at seven. “We know storylines six months ahead and mine was always going to be pretty strong this year. My producer’s [Bryan Kirkwood] biggest worry was taking me out of things, especially when my storyline has been going on for a while. “He was at EastEnders last year when Scott Maslen did it so he set the bar out for me. He said, ‘You’re going to come to me in two months’ time, your eyes will be bleeding, you’ll be crying and asking for time off. You won’t get it’.” Hollyoaks can be seen weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4 / Channel 4 HD.
