Hollywood Professional Firefighters along with Rescue Crews from multiple municipalities, including Ft Lauderdale and BSO Technical Rescue Teams, responded to a request for support by Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue for the report of a construction worker who had fallen into a manhole in an excavation that had collapsed. It was evident when Fire Rescue crews arrived that the man had died shortly after the fall, so at that point the incident became a body recovery effort. This doesnt mean that one simply hooks up and is lowered to recover the victim. There must be careful planning and meticulous coordination between Rescue Teams to prevent further collapse and avoid injury to the responders.
