( Holy Moley, I need to calm down with the posts. D:>) Heres something thats been bugging me for days, with Darran Aranofskys version of Noah and everything. Why havent Nephilim been used more as the ultimate evil in comics? (Not manga. Evangelion has that covered). Okay, compiling thousands of years of Islamic, Jewish and Christian texts into a few sentences, the Nephilim are super giant monster freaks that are the children of angels giving God the bird and hooking up with human women on Earth. (Think H.P. Lovecraft Old Gods. These things make Frieza and Cooler look like the Dali Lama.) These angels fell to Earth and became Satans demon horde. They (Nephilim) where unspeakably huge, horrible to look at and lived, breathed and existed for noting but the destruction of all mankind. God used the flood to wipe them off the planet, leaving his best man Noah and his family to re-conquer the Earth (Book of Enoch). They are never really described, but the most I can get is that they are the definition of what evil looks like. Now I keep seeing Nephilim as these loving angels in the Mortal Instruments/Infernal Devices and the Hush,Hush trilogy. The most evil is in Angelology, and those are pompous Rockefeller elitists in suits. Id personally love to see someone like Steve Niles, for example, come in and turn these things into something truly iconic. Ignore the religion or use it its up to you, but the Four Horsemen are such an overused, wasted topic in media that its annoying. Not even the Headless Horseman can re-invigorate them in Sleepy Hollow. >__
