Holy cow. Just saw a story on the news that said hurricanes named after females (from 1950-2012) killed more people than those named after men. The consensus is that people arent afraid of storms with cute names and so they dont take proper precautions. Im stunned. ALL hurricanes were named after women until 1978, so unless they count only those years its a flawed study. Yes, its safe to say that between 1950 and 1978 storms named after women were MUCH more deadly. I hunted down and read the actual article (and no, it was not in The Onion) and it said if you changed a hurricanes name from a mans to a womans, three times more people would die. Ridiculous. But to be safe, from now on maybe we should give all storms fierce names. Its Hurricane Hulk! Take cover. -- LJ
