Breaking down the goals into short and long term and setting a deadline for each helps each individual to stay on track and monitor progress along the way. While I know working with the Career Plan for this weeks assignment can be tricky, I hope you will revisit it often to update your goals. Your goals are clear, Norman, and based on the passion for your future career you have communicated, I know you will be successful. I am confused by your completion dates, as well as descriptions for each goal. Also, I am unable to see the 5th goal. Submitting a list of goals with the necessary information would have been helpful and gone along with the assignment requirements listed in the Syllabus. Discussion Questions 8.0 8.0 Comment: Week Six DQs focused on educational and career goals. Through the discussion of how the two work together, I hope you were able to make connections and determine what your path might look like. Thank you for sharing your responses ... Participation 12.0 12.0 Comment: As always, thank you for your participation during Week Six. Please be certain to continue to participate on a consistent basis in order to gain all that you can from our class discussions. I also hope that points brought up during class discussions will be helpful to all students ... Week 6 Subtotal : 60 40 Cumulative Week 6 Subtotal : 620 542 Week 6 Feedback: Week Six provided a focus on goals. By taking time to develop educational and career goals, as well as personal goals, each individual has a greater opportunity to achieve those goals. Learning to monitor progress toward goals is equally important. As of now, your progress in this course has earned you a grade of B+. Week 5 Possible Score Your Score Academic Honesty Worksheet 100.0 100.0 Comment: During Week Five, you were asked to look at a variety of materials centered around the topic of academic honesty. The final assignment involved using the University Library to research the topic, presenting your findings in a chart (Appendix F). Thank you for your efforts and your thoughts on what it means to you ... Detecting Plagiarism 30.0 19.0 Comment: Plagiarism is a serious topic in the academic world. While individuals do not necessarily intend to borrow someone elses words, it can happen unintentionally, but with consequences that are just as serious. Through a clear understanding of the issue, as well as utilization of the tools that are available to guard against it, students have an opportunity to avoid academic dishonesty. I hope that you will make use of the Plagiarism Checker as you continue through your program of study; in addition, as you were asked to think about a faculty members appropriate course of action, examining our Class Policies document is important, as is thinking through how a faculty member might be most helpful to a student learning to avoid making a costly mistake. -10% late post. What other behaviors constitute academic dishonesty (-8 points)? Discussion Questions 8.0 8.0 Comment: I found the weeks discussions interesting as so many different thoughts and questions were shared regarding academic honesty, plagiarism and helpful information regarding how to avoid ... this is an important topic, and I hope all of you have a more solid understanding of what to avoid in terms of academic dishonesty. Participation 12.0 12.0 Comment: As always, thank you for your participation during Week Five. Please be certain to continue to participate on a consistent basis in order to gain all that you can from our class discussions. I also hope that points brought up during class discussions will be helpful to all students. Week 5 Subtotal : 150 139 Cumulative Week 5 Subtotal : 560 502 Week 5 Feedback: With the conclusion of Week Five, we are over halfway through GEN105. Congratulations! Week Five allowed us to focus on both short and long-term goals. I hope that the weeks activities provided a helpful opportunity for you to refocus your attention on what exactly you are working toward. Week 4 Possible Score Your Score Discussion Questions 8.0 8.0 Comment: Discussions during Week Four focused on two topics: first of all, the availability of University technological tools and your thoughts regarding each and secondly, the use of the University Library and completion of the Library tutorial. I hope you found the discussions helpful and useful as you continue through the course ... Participation 12.0 12.0 Comment: Thank you for sharing your thoughts not only with me, but with your classmates during Week Four. While it may sometimes seem that the same ideas are presented multiple times, it is helpful to hear different perspectives and thoughts on the same issue. In addition, I believe many students gained new understanding of the resources available ... Phoenix Career Plan - Work Culture Preferences 30.0 25.0 Comment: During Week 4, students were required to complete the Career Plan Building Activity: Work Culture Preferences. Following completion, reflective questions were to be answered focusing on individual feelings regarding results, resources found to be of use, and how the results related to Week 2 personal competencies. While I hope you found the activity beneficial, it is my greater hope that the connections between class activities and content are becoming clear. What changes have you seen from the first or second week of class to now in the 5th week? Think about your results from the assessments taken ... (-5 points). University Library Research 30.0 16.0 Comment: Thank you taking this opportunity to utilize the University Library to research a given topic(s). Please take the knowledge/skills gained and continue to apply it throughout this course, as well as future courses. I do recommend working to create concise summaries in order to aid in researching for larger projects, as this is a helpful tool in organizing ones research. Following completion of this assignment, I hope your comfort level with the library has increased! Please be certain to carefully read Syllabus directions. For this assignment, you only needed to find two articles, not an article for each topic. In addition, it was necessary to provide the formal APA citation for each article (-5 points each). Another element was explaining why you chose the specific articles over others found during your keyword search (-2 each). Week 4 Subtotal : 80 61 Cumulative Week 4 Subtotal : 410 363 Week 4 Feedback: At this point, we are nearly halfway through the course, and I hope that your comfort level has increased dramatically. If you are still having difficulties, please do not let frustration get the best of you, but continue to persevere! I hope that you are finding relevance in the topics were addressing each week. As we progress, please take the time to regularly evaluate your progress ... Week 3 Possible Score Your Score Analyzing Internet Sources 30.0 30.0 Comment: The two follow-up questions required for this assignment were to be answered in 100-150 words each. Careful thought and support were necessary in order to adequately respond to each. Always focus on supporting your answers with specific details from the material required. I would encourage the use of APA formatting with each submitted assignment. Communicating for Distance Education 80.0 65.0 Comment: The second assignment of Week Three consisted of three parts. In part 1, two messages, one casual and one formal (100-200 words each), were required. In part 2, it was necessary to coach Anthony on the use of inclusive language (in 100-200 words), and in part 3, the focus was on tone (in 150-200 words). Overall, the assignment was worth 80 points: 20 points for each part, plus 10 points for readability & style, as well as another 10 points for mechanics. When providing feedback to Anthony, there should have been a focus on using inclusive language in order to avoid offending female classmates and business associates (-10 points). Overall, your presentation is well done, and I would simply recommend reading your work aloud or having someone else read it to listen for errors in usage creating problems with readability. When writing, we need to be certain our thoughts flow, helping to make it easy for the reader to follow (-5 points). Thank you for using APA! Discussion Questions 8.0 8.0 Comment: Thank you for posting your DQ responses during Week Three. As you have experienced, the responses posted to DQs help us to interact and dig more deeply into course content as we take the time to evaluate and discuss others points of view. Please continue to share your thoughts as we progress through the remaining weeks of class. I look forward to reading future responses ... Participation 12.0 12.0 Comment: Our discussions during the third week of class centered around the topic of the Internet for general vs. academic purposes, along with the differences in writing to a facilitator vs. a friend. Throughout the class discussions, I hope you were able to build a solid understanding of the topics, as well as their possible impact on your experience. Week 3 Subtotal : 130 115 Cumulative Week 3 Subtotal : 330 302 Week 3 Feedback: This week we began utilizing a few of the educational resources available through Axia College and the University of Phoenix. Becoming familiar with these resources is one key to your success, coupled with, of course, continued hard work and dedication to obtaining your degree. As of the end of Week Three, your current grade is an A-. Week 2 Possible Score Your Score Discussion Questions 8.0 8.0 Comment: Our Week Two DQs were meant to help students reflect upon the information gained during the weeks learning activities. By taking time to reflect upon personal competencies and ones personality profile, the hope is each individual will be better able to utilize the information to become stronger learners. Responding to each weekly DQ is an essential element of the course, and through each individuals responses, our discussions become fuller and more beneficial. Learning Preferences 30.0 30.0 Comment: Following completion of Practices 1, 2 and 3, the assignment asked students to reflect on the information gained. By taking time to think about your strongest dimension, as well as information that reinforced, and/or contradicted something about yourself, I hope you have gained a greater understanding of the information presented during Week Two. As you continue through this course and your program, refer back to this information and evaluate its impact. Learning Styles and Competencies 100.0 87.0 Comment: The second assignment of Week Two focused on the personality spectrum, identifying the best study techniques for your strengths, relating all of this weeks topics to a professional environment, collaboration, relationship between competencies/results and improvement. The content of the assignment was worth 70 points, with readability and style worth 16 points and mechanics worth 14 points. Your area of greatest strength was reflecting on the information gained and how it specifically applies, as well as utilizing APA format. When working on future assignments, try reading them aloud before submitting. Listen for flow, as well as correct word choice (-5 points). I would also encourage careful proofing in order to catch errors in usage (-8 points) in order to improve readability. Participation 12.0 12.0 Comment: Participating in each weeks discussions is a key to gaining the most from the course. The goal is to not only ask each student to respond to the DQs, but truly participate in a class discussion of the weeks topics. Week 2 Subtotal : 150 137 Cumulative Week 2 Subtotal : 200 187 Week 2 Feedback: I was pleased with the progress made during our second week together. With two assignments required, I hope that your individual comfort level is increasing and that your stress level is decreasing as you gain confidence in your abilities! With the variety of topics addressed this week, your foundational knowledge is increasing at a fast rate. Week 1 Possible Score Your Score Discussion Questions 8.0 8.0 Comment: Our Week One Discussion Questions were meant to help the class begin to think about online education. By discussing the topics of distance learning, as well as constructive criticism and feedback, members of the class not only became familiar with participating in an online discussion, but were also required to hone in on topics important to success in the distance learning setting. Distance Learning Vocabulary and Course Forums 30.0 30.0 Comment: The information shared in your Distance Learning Vocabulary and Course Forums assignment was very clear and to the point. By utilizing the required terms (threaded discussion, electronic forum, asynchronous communication, feedback, online, Internet or web and participation grade), anyone would gain a solid understanding of distance learning through Axia College. In addition, you accurately identified the forum in which each of the listed messages would fit.
