Home Tropical Cyclone Weather Bulletin Update WEATHER BULLETIN UPDATETROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING FOR SHIPPINGHOURLY UPDATE ANNUAL TROPICAL CYCLONE TRACKS Tropical Cyclone Update PAGASA Track as of 2 a.m., 15 September 2014 Satellite Image SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER THIRTEEN TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING: TYPHOON LUIS (KALMAEGI) Issued at 5:00 a.m., Monday, 15 September 2014 Typhoon LUIS is now over the West Philippine Sea and continues to move away from the country. Location of Center: (as of 4:00 a.m.) at 100 km West Northwest of Laoag City Coordinates: 18.4°N, 119.7°E Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 30 kph. Forecast Positions/Outlook: Monday morning: outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Tuesday morning: 811 km West Northwest of Laoag City Public Storm Warning Signal PSWS Luzon Visayas Mindanao # 3 (Winds of 101-185 kph is expected in at least 18 hrs) Ilocos Norte None None # 2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs) Cagayan incl. Babuyan and Calayan Group of Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mt. Province and Ilocos Sur None None #1 (winds of 30 - 60 kph is expected in atleast 36 hours) Isabela, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan and Batanes Group of Islands None None Public storm warning signals elsewhere are now lowered. Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #3, #2 and #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under signal #3 and #2 are alerted against storm surges of up to 2 meters. Estimated rainfall amount is from 8 – 20 mm per hour (heavy - Intense) within the 500 km diameter of the Typhoon. The rest of Luzon will have monsoon rains with moderate to strong southwesterly surface windflow due to the Southwest Monsoon. Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Luzon and over the western and central seaboards of Visayas.
