Home... whew!!! and thank you Lord! My local friends know that Vasco rd (from 580) is a 17 mile stretch with some steep up and down hill sections, with virtually NO place to safely pull off the road.... thankfully, we noticed that something was wrong just before we got onto that 17 mile stretch, and we were two long blocks from Vasco Plaza which has a car service place... our radiator (evidently) holds 12 quarts... they replace 8. So.. Vasco Rd... that 17 miles of steep ups and downs and no place safe to pull off??? What did we do?? 50 mph, no AC, windows open, and keeping an eye on the temperature gauge. It didnt budge. We are home, safely. We will get the Sequoia to Toyota next week, hopefully on Monday, and, since the Camry still needs work too, Ill be driving the truck. Lots to be thankful for in the midst of the hardship: for sure, thankful that we noticed a strange sound and the 1/4 inch movement on the temp gauge just before making the left turn that would have put us onto Vasco Rd.... Jesse did let out some shrieks and squeals... but, he maintained..... we went to the nearby Subway, bought water and cookies... kept him busy as long as possible, before walking back to the car service place nearby... and... I was able to tell Jesse, via ASL, that the car was broken and the man was fixing it.... and Jesse took it in... he wasnt happy about it, but he did have a good idea of what was up, and just expressed his displeasure at the hiccup in the plans.... but... he maintained quite well under the circumstances... progress. I am glad to be home... will crash for a few minutes to unwind and regroup, to breathe and think.. and strategize for how we will manage next week. We are home, we are safe. The radiator leak, apparently, is a small one... must have been leaking for awhile before it got that low.
