Homelessness really hits home for me. As many of you know my Uncle Wayne was homeless for many years as he struggled with mental illness. My parents were there and gave him a home and gave him a family who cared about him and finally around 2002 he wasnt homeless anymore and lived with our family until he passed away. Anyone who knew Wayne knew he had a heart of gold. He was a kind and caring person. He was not a criminal. He was even arrested and spent months in jail in Florida just for being homeless. It makes me want to cry thinking about his struggles and thinking about how many Waynes there are out there living homeless just needing help. Throwing them in jail isnt solving the problem. Throwing people who help the homeless in jail isnt the problem. Please take a moment to watch this video. We need people to start standing up and demanding change and it starts with us.
