Homemade liquid washing detergent 1 1/2cup washing soda ( not baking soda) 1 cup borax 1bar fells naphtha laundry bar or zote soap Essential oil ( optional) 5 gal bucket w lid Makes 10 gal liquid soap...less than $5 per batch You will have soda and borax leftover for more batches.. grate the bar soap...add water and melt on stove stirring constantly. Pour into 5 gallon bucket. Add 1 1/2 c washing soda, 1c borax ..and hot water to fill bucket. Mix well. I use a paint stirrer so all dry ingredients dissolved!! Add essential oil for smell if you like but soap itself is clean and fresh...now put lid on and let set overnight. It will turn into a gel. (some peopl at this point dilute to half n half getting 10 gal of washing soap. ) I use a half cup measure per load of concentrate except on tough loads ill use 1cup...
