Honesty in art is charming, sure, but it also dissolves creative blockage in the mind of the artist. When we contrive, we begin to build up blockages. The more honest our work, the more we disarm our audience and, perhaps more importantly, we disarm certain types of psychological processes which we call "enemies" as artists. ~ Me, and you can take that to the bank, although it may bounce. meaning, that if you catch me in a slantwise moment I will have another angle which I am toying with.
