Honor Roll TENNYSON LEVERICH (1892-1966) World War I He enlisted with the 49th Artillery Regiment of the Coast Artillery Corps (C.A.C.), in Battery F in the American Expeditionary Forces. The 49th was organized in July 1918 at Camp Eustis, Virginia. In September the regiment was moved to Camp Stuart in Virginia and prior to sailing moved to Newport News also in Virginia. The regiment sailed for France in October 1918 and went to Operations and Training Center at Angers, France. Along with the 48th and 50th, the 49th made up 38th Artillery Brigade. The training of the regiment had not commenced when the war ended the following month on 11 November 1918. The regiment returned to the U.S. on March 1919, going to Camp Merritt, New Jersey. They were later demobilized at Camp Grant, Illinois. He was the son of Edgar B. Leverich (1844-1926) and Sarah Agnes Sniffen (c.1855-?), born on 19 August 1892 at Cortlandt, Westchester Co., New York. Shortly after he returned from Europe, he married on 13 December 1919 to Pearl E. Crawford. They had 4 daughters, the oldest, Estelle, died as an infant. Tennyson died on 16 June 1966 and is buried at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, Suffolk Co., New York. Sometime during the Depression severe hard times fell on the family. The marriage ended; one daughter, Pearl, was institutionalized and the two other daughters; Betty, was placed with foster parents, Frank & Florence DeSanto of New Rochelle; and Doris with William & Mae Thayer, also of New Rochelle. THOMAS DEAN LEVERICH (1949-2009) Vietnam Entered the U.S. Army on 16 July 1971 and was discharged four months later. He was the son of Jack Willard Leverich (1921-1994) and Alma Edna Reinhardt (1926-2001), born at Enid, Garfield Co., Oklahoma on 10 September 1949. He married at San Diego, California on 19 November 1977 to Karen Sue Jones, and they have three children. Thomas was a dentist in practice with his twin brother, Ronald at Yukon, Canadian Co., Oklahoma. He loved to cook and garden and was a running enthusiast having completed his first marathon at San Diego in 2008. He earned a degree in chemistry from Central State University and a graduate of Creighton University earning his degree in dentistry. After a short illness, he passed on 28 February 2009 at Yukon at the age of 59.
