Honors Diploma: As an incentive to encourage students to challenge themselves at Zillah High School, an Honors Diploma has been established which goes beyond the regular state and local diploma requirements. Students earning this honor will be noted in the graduation program, have an ‘HONORS’ gold embossed sticker added on the diploma and will wear the “HONORS STOLE” at graduation events. To be considered the honors of Valedictorian, Salutatorian, ZHS Academic Top 10 Awards a senior must earn the ZHS Honors Diploma. Requirements: Students are encourage to go beyond the requirements All classes in each department must be counted in this application regardless if the student goes beyond the minimum requirements. These are the MINIMUM requirements to qualify for the ZHS Honors Diploma. 1. 31 Credits or more to be completed by the final semester 2. Earned a Certificate of Academic Achievement (CAA) 3. An accumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater 4. Course Work in the CADR’s: a. English: 4 credits with a minimum of 2 credits of honors English courses b. Math*: 4 credits in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-calculus or Calculus (Requires 4 credits at ZHS) c. Science: 4 credits with 3 in Lab Sciences. (Only Science Department classes.) d. Social Studies: 4 credits (SOC coded classes) e. Fine Arts: 1 credit (MUS, ART, DRM coded classes) f. World Language: 2 credits of a single world language.
