Hoop Dreams was originally aired on PBS and repeated several times. Since then it has gone private with DVDs available on-line and every once in a while a lesser quality pirated version makes it on to YouTube. This is one of them. The more seminal moments of the vid are hard to find now in segments - but you can find them on the longer version if you are willing to sit thru the entire watch or drag the little bar down at the bottom of the screen to the exact hour and minute (00:00:00) of the vid. Here are my recommendations for some of the more eye opening scenes of the 5 years the producers followed Arthur Agees and William Gates B-Ball from Chicagos HSs to College careers and what it involves - the docu camera doesnt lie: 1. Arthur Agee shopping for sneaks and William gates attending the prestigious summer Nike Camp attended by the top coaches in college ball to scout recruits - at 1:32:00 on the bar. 2. William Gates at Marquette being hosted by the Assistant Coach in a recruitment visit his Sr. Year - early commitment - the St. Joes Coach is something to behold - at 1:32:00 on the bar. 3. William Gates says good-bye to St. Joes and the Coach in his office - goes on to play for Marquette and the Knicks for about 6 years - at 2:30:00 on the bar - remember this is a HS coach. youtu.be/cMyvImhdBB8
