Hoops win Glaserchoo Battle Glenea 1-2 Rathmullan Celtic It may not have carried the same importance as the victory that secured the Premier Division title back in April, but Rathmullan claimed a vital three league points at Glaserchoo today. The Hoops burst from the blocks to score twice in the opening 20 minutes and stun their hosts. Glenea reduced the lead before the break and although they dominated the game for long spells in the second they were unable to get past Sean Black a second time. Kevin McGrath scored the opener, racing on to a pass from Ryan Connolly before twisting his man inside out and applying a cool finish past Joe Coll from 16 yards. Connolly doubled the advantage soon after, stooping to head home James Gallaghers cross at the back post. Glenea struck back after 40 mins, Gavin McGlanaghey picking his spot from 12 yards after a neat cutback. Try as Glenea did in the second half, they were unable to level the game up. Sean Black in goal was confident under the many crosses that came in and produced one excellent point-blank stop with his right hand. A huge three points for the Bhoys at a notoriously difficult and sometimes hostile venue. There was the usual mix of good natured banter in the stand but handshakes all round afterwards ;-) Next up its a trip to Cappry Rovers on Sunday. The Hoops: Sean Black, Reggie Miller, Paddy Burger Patton, Kieran Gorman, Shea Coyle, Eoin Sheridan, Marty McDaid, Ryan Connolly, Kevin McGrath, James Gallagher, Dara Patton (c) Subs: Niall Doherty (for Connolly), Caolan Kelly (for Gallagher) and Jordan McBride.
