Hope. This is all about hope. I hope that Yes leaning undecideds realise its delusional to think there won’t be major financial consequence to Independence - and vote No. I hope that Yes leaning undecideds realise Yes means a devalued currency, higher shops prices, unemployment for very many more, tumbling property prices, and lower pensions/benefits - and vote No. I hope that Yes traditional Nationalist idealists realise that Sterlingisation currently on offer precludes any chance of the real Independence, and stay at home in protest. I hope that Yes voters doing so because they want to reform UK politics realise they are using a sledgehammer to crack a nut – and vote No. I hope that Yes voters who are doing so to attempt to take power from the British priveleged political elite, realise that Sterlingisation actually gives them more power by simply removing us from the electorate they are accountable to, and the same folk realise that breaking this power can only be achieved from within the UK. I hope that working class Yes voters realise they are voting for us to leave membership of the EU behind and the workers rights that membership confers. I hope that all voters realise that whats on offer is not a sniff of any kind of improvement of democracy I hope that all Yessers fully realise separation is not something we can suck it and see. Once this country is broken it cant be fixed. As Gerry Rafferty sung:“If you get it wrong you get it right next time” ... doesn’t apply beyond the point of no return. I hope that all voters realise that this separation now is undoubtedly a bad thing for Scotland. I hope that all and every No voter turns up on the day. In the event of Scotland losing its grip on reality and voting Yes: I hope that the reality of economic downturn due to separation doesn’t bite too hard. I hope the real and immediate financial consequence for every voter, voter’s children, voters’ parents and voters’ friends, are to the moderate end of the scale. I hope that Scotland will be lucky enough that the economic decisions affecting the currency and interest rates that will be taken wholly by the rUK for the rUK, don’t affect us too bad. Since we would only have fiscal response to this, I hope that the inevitable extra fiscal austerity that would follow separation, would be light and not severe. I hope this fiscal austerity doesn’t butcher living standards too much. I hope that there wont be too many Scots thrown on the dole scrapheap. I hope that the over-45s that do end up on the dole don’t feel too bad that it’s the end of their working career. I hope the inevitable civil unrest isn’t too widespread. I hope the human cost in misery, reposessions, re-locations, family break ups and community upheaval isn’t too severe. I hope that when the blame game kicks off we all remember that we were all just doing what we thought was best for Scotland. I hope it’s a No and all these risks are avoided.
