Hope everybody is well & wishing strength to all not in good health. September has been great for gardening, miles better than August, hope it continues through October. Too early to put the garden to bed, still plenty to do - e.g. a great time to plant shrubs, divide some perennials, plant spring bulbs, keep de-heading spent flowers to encourage more & start collecting the falling leaves (store them in a bin bag for a year & will turn into a great soil conditioner, or at least move them from lawn into soil ). I sometimes get asked when does grass stop growing? answer is when below 11 degrees, so during Oct, when dry I would recommend a fortnightly cut (no lower than 3cm). Still cropping on the allotment and at home, with pics from todays visit - courgettes still flowering, sweetcorn - will cobs develop?, kohl rabi bulb (tastes like mild turnip), leeks growing stronger, beetroots growing, cucumbers & peppers in polytunnel, baby lettuce in mini flexi-tub, todays trugfull and more autumn bedding plants.........
