Hopefully, some more fostering pets will come from this. When I met Kip, my super-dog, I was volunteering at the Fairhope Animal Shelter to pay them back for helping certain neighbors with their cat over-population issues -- but also to walk with purpose. Great exercise, great people, and love like I had not felt in some time -- from the shelter dogs, cats, staff and volunteers. Kip became my pet therapy dog, after my best friend died in a tragic, unexpected car accident in late 2007 and guided me through my grief. Fostering him, letting him go to a permanent family, then luckily getting him back for permanent adoption during the holiday season 2008 changed my life. Kip continues to delight me and those whom are my true family. I hope some of you might consider fostering or adopting from the local shelters during the holidays. There is nothing like spending the holiday season with your best friend, and Kip has proven over and over to be my angel, always a reminder of my formerly good times in Fairhope. Hope youre all well.
