Hopefully the clouds will stay away overnight allowing for favorable viewing of a brand new meteor shower, known as the Camelopardalids. This meteor shower originates from a trail of dust behind a comet known as 209P/Linear. For the first time, this dust has been tugged into Earths orbit, thanks to the force of Jupiters gravity. Astronomers do not know just how many particles are contained in the dust cloud so the number of meteors that may be seen is a big unknown. The best predictions are a few hundred meteors per hour. The best way to view this meteor shower is to go outdoors and lay flat on your back while looking skyward. Astronomers figure the peak will occur between 1 am and 2 am Saturday morning. Happy viewing!
