Hoping to fix my flashing OD light. No cherry in the pan but the fluid was slightly burnt. In order to change the EPC solenoid (likely cause of the flashing light since it was cycling in/out of OD) you have to remove the linkage to get the pan off. 13 wrench and 13 deep. 10mm pan bolts. Pry out the filter. Be sure to get orange oring out of filter hole. Next remove the 2 8mm screws on the MLPS switch so it can slide outwards with the shaft. Mark its location prior to moving. Next loosen the 8mm bolt for the ratchet lever for the shift gear and swing it 90 degrees. Next take a Cresent on the outer part of the shifter shaft and a 13/16s open end on the big gold nut on the inside. Normal thread direction. Remove nut all the way and pull out the parking prawl rod and shift gear. Remove the roll pin holding the shaft in place. Use wire cutters to grab softly and pry against the case using leverage. Like a shovel. Push the shaft outwards until its almost flush with the case. Jiggle if necessary. Remove the 8mm bolt holding the retainer bracket holding the EPC solenoid and remove the retainer. Unclip hard black plastic connector. Carefully. I wiggled front to back and it came loose. Use a screwdriver and pry out the solenoid. Install new solenoid until it snaps into place. It will need to be pulled out slightly to put retainer back. After retainer is in make sure it cant pull out. Reverse the rest. Be sure to put MLPS in same spot. Dont over tighten valve body bolts. Mercon 5 if transmission is stock. If rebuilt...something cheaper. Heh.
