Horoscopes by Jonathan Cainer Thought for the day 30 December 2014 Dear Jonathan, When my husband and I separated, I put my wedding ring on the bathroom basin, said he could have it back, then left. Later, I asked what he had done with it. He said he hadnt touched it. I moved into a new home. Five years later, moving again, I grabbed some empty bags to put some rubbish in. Out fell my wedding ring! I suppose it was the end of an era. My ring came back under easier circumstances. Helen Aquarius Jan 21 - Feb 19 aquarius Should auld acquaintance be forgot? I asked this yesterday. Even if you are not an astrologer, you may care to use your own powers of prescience to foresee whether the same phrase will appear on this page tomorrow. Meanwhile, we await your answer. Should they be forgot? And if so, how do you propose to forget them all by tomorrow night? Perhaps they should not be forgot, although today brings you a reminder of a situation that you might happily forget, if only you could. Remember not to take it too seriously. Pisces Feb 20 - Mar 20 pisces 2014 is not over. The bell has not rung yet. Return to your seats please, class, and open your books at the most boring page. We shall keep on learning until the very last moment and there may even be detention for those who defy this instruction. And you wouldnt like to be stuck in this year for a single moment longer than you have to, now would you? So take these few final moments and pay heed to the one important thing that you should take away with you for the future. Its this. All things must pass. Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20 aries Chess players will often explain that the art of the exercise involves anticipating the opponents next move and thus being one step ahead of the game. Just as we benefit from our dealings with others if we apply a little strategic analysis, so we may gain from an attempt to guess what our own reactions are due to be. This can be a wonderful way to keep ourselves in check or ensure that we stick successfully to a declared intention. Bringing positive change to your future now is largely a matter of planning. Taurus Apr 21 - May 21 taurus They say a watched pot never boils. They are wrong. It does. It just seems to take longer because the very act of observing the process too closely gives rise to a sense of frustration. Possibly, the old saying has some merit because, if we gaze at that pot too intently and grow sufficiently bored and fed up, we may just decide to take it off the heat and abandon the exercise. You are now engaging in a process that needs to take time. But if you apply commitment and dedication, this will eventually take care of everything. Gemini May 22 - June 22 gemini According to tradition, the tree must stay up until the 12th night of Christmas and the decorations too, should stay firmly in place until January 5. To act any earlier, is to invite bad luck. But surely, in the rational, sensible, 21st century, we need no longer be slaves to such superstitions? Why would you want to dwell any longer in a realm of elves and reindeers? Arent there so many more practical, pressing matters to attend to? There may be but today there is still a little more magic to be worked. Cancer Jun 23 - Jul 23 cancer Cancerians are not eternally self-sacrificing and perpetually prepared to put the needs of others above their own. Those who might sometimes suggest otherwise, are surely part of some wicked conspiracy designed to sustain a sense of martyrdom amongst those who share your sign. Yet there comes a point where every worm, no matter how lowly, must eventually turn. In 2015, like the legendary Cinderella, you are due to find freedom from drudgery. The change can begin this very day. Leo Jul 24 - Aug 23 leo The Hindu New Year began in March. The Jewish New Year started in September. Islamic New Year was October. And we are three weeks early for Chinese New Year. So, whose New Year is this anyway? Do you really have faith in the idea that everything can start afresh the day after tomorrow? Interestingly, astrologically, for you as a Leo, there really is now a chance to change something forever, for the better. But to make that happen, you must look beyond logic, deep into your heart. Find forgiveness, claim the future. Virgo Aug 24 - Sep 23 virgo If the thought of another Christmas dinner doesnt appeal, how about an Easter feast? And why wait until the official date? How better to fill the time this week, than by getting ahead of the schedule and holding several celebrations in advance? Or perhaps, like many, you are now only too eagerly awaiting a return to normality, mundanity and the familiar rhythm of a well-practised routine. But if there is something you have lately had too much of, perhaps this is an apt time to decide that you will have less of it next year. Libra Sep 24 - Oct 23 libra The moving finger writes and, having writ, moves on; nor all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line... So said the 12th-century Persian poet Omar Khayyam. There is no arguing with this! In terms of commentary upon the nature of time and change, it is as good as it gets. As you now review the year that is coming to a close, be willing to let go, not just of all that was less than ideal but even of all that was, in its own, way, perfect. It is through your own ability to move on now that a real sense of magic will emerge. Scorpio Oct 24 - Nov 22 scorpio Thanks to interactive TV, we dont just get to watch our favourite singers and performers, we can vote for them too. Surely, it will only be a matter of time before governments invite the public to help them when drafting new laws. Dial this number to make that illegal! And judges? Why do they need juries any more? Just text guilty to 12345. We are all, it seems, a little too quick to feel sure that we know what is good or bad. Be open, today, to a discovery that may yet put all of 2014 so far, in a brighter light. Sagittarius Nov 23 - Dec 21 sagittarius How odd that we live in a world where people are applauded and revered or their strength of purpose. Yet we also place so much emphasis on choice. Why do alternatives exist? Is it simply so that the weak-minded can have something to dither about? Or might there be a very good reason for the existence of todays dilemma? It deserves to be a dilemma, not just a fleeting moment of choice. Apply careful contemplation to what may yet prove your last big decision in 2014. It could have a big impact on 2015! Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 20 capricorn What if today was the first day of 2014? What if you only had 48 hours or so to live through the whole year, to make your memories, create your impressions and gain your experiences? What if you could forget all that has gone on in the last 12 months and replace everything with what is about to happen? Isnt there at least one thing you ought to make one last effort to fix before you walk away from this year? There is still time to do something that can bring about an enormous, positive difference. Give it a go.
