Horror films suck now. Heres why. Horror used to make you question your beliefs and reality. Horror films were scary. Horror films were thought provoking. Horror has become simply disturbing. Uncomfortable. As I watch the re-make of Carrie I feel like I need a shower. I feel gross. There is nothing identifiable about these characters. I dont care if they live or die. Its not scary. Its not creepy. Its just...icky? I want to take a shower and watch Rosmaries Baby. Gore does not equate to Horror. I didnt like it when HGL did it and I dont like it now that EVERYONE is doing it. Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre...none of these films were gory. They were horrific. Hence the name...Horror Film.
