Horses on Parade! While it isnt directly polo related, we thought you would enjoy this unique and creative charitable program with the horse as its symbol. Horses of Honor is a public art installation in Chicago benefitting the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. This project features life-size statues of Chicago’s Mounted Patrol Unit Horses that are each artistically designed by local Chicago artists. Currently, there are 14 horses displayed throughout downtown Chicago and as many 100 life size horse statues will be installed later this fall. The program is modeled after the Cows on Parade public art installation, which began in Chicago in 1999 and has since traveled the globe, raising more than $25 million for nonprofit organizations. The horse sculptures are designed to resemble Chicago’s Mounted Patrol Unit horses. Each will be decorated by a local artist and named for a fallen officer, according to organizers. The sculptures will be placed at tourism destinations, corporate atriums, parks, plazas and private businesses from September through November.
