Horticulture Education gives you a leg up on related jobs--for example: Pacific West Construction and Maintenance is looking for a full-time landscaper to assist in our landscape department. We currently maintain more than 50 multifamily properties in the Seattle area (primarily in the Queen Anne/Capitol Hill neighborhoods). In addition to our regular maintenance program, we are developing long-term landscape plans in house and are seeking someone who can not only take direction from our landscape designer but also lead a small installation crew in the field by: • Reading plans/drawings/schematics • Purchasing, delivering, and implementing required actions for soil preparation, planting (groundcovers to trees), mulching, watering , fertilization, pruning, etc. • Demonstrating professional and safe site setup and cleanup practices • Meeting landscape budgets, assigned labor hours, and quality standards • Using a variety of mowers, blowers, clippers, edgers, and other equipment • Collaborating with staff regarding existing maintenance schedules and communicating issues (e.g., communicating that a specific landscape will require additional maintenance during certain times of the year) Position requirements: • Must have valid drivers license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation • Must be available to work 40 hours per week • Must be able and willing to train landscape laborers when needed • Experience with Northwest annuals, perennials, ornamentals, fine pruning, and current landscape practices • Strong willingness to learn and expand skill base • Must be capable of performing very physical labor and have the ability to lift or carry 35 to 80 pounds often • Must be a flexible team player • Ability to troubleshoot/recommend viable alternatives to meet client/ job/ budget criteria • Professional demeanor and ability to track and communicate client issues reported while onsite • One to two years of horticultural schooling or equivalent experience Recommended and beneficial: • Knowledge of hardscapes cleaning/installation, exterior lighting, irrigation systems repair, etc. • Knowledge of low-maintenance landscape practices/ sustainable practices for landscape health • English/Spanish speaking • First aid certification • Commercial pesticide license We offer: • Medical after 180 days • Company cell phone • Professional work environment • Pay commensurate with your experience Please submit a cover letter and resume to admin@pw-cm with “Landscape Lead” in subject line.
