House Of Pies manager, Eric is a complete asshole and doesnt deserve his position. Aside from his inability to smile and welcome guests, his ogre-like personality really showed last night when I attempted to dine there with my family. The hostess explained that there was not a table available to accommodate a party of eight since their second dining room did not open for another 45 minutes. She asked if we wouldnt mind splitting the party between 2 booths. I kindly asked if the manager would make an exception and open the alternate section early since I had 5 grandparents in my party & they wanted equal time to share with my 3 year old at the same table. I worked in the service industry for over 5 years so I have some understanding of the way things work in a restaurant.. Usually managers are welcoming, friendly and will bend the rules within reason (especially for a large table). I didnt think it was too much to ask since the place was more than half empty, which is unusual for HOP. It wouldve simply been a matter of the waitress turning right instead of left to get to our table. She came back and said the manager couldnt allow the favor. So I decided to ask him myself. I started to explain that we had family in from out of town, we were looking forward to eating here, etc. He refused again and couldnt have done it with more apparent lack of concern. It was as if I was bothering him before I even spoke. He shrugged his shoulders and didnt really offer more than a simple No, we cant do that before turning away and continuing to expedite orders. Needless to say we went somewhere else and the managers demeanor put a damper on the evening. I can handle a rejection but I cannot tolerate a manager without a cordial bone in his body. Maybe if he wouldve said it with a smile or offered another choice of words, I wouldnt be bashing him. I used to love this place but beware.. The Kirby location manager is a walking butt-hole
