How I judge distance: Ive been getting this question daily-- so here is my answer for everybody to read! I judge targets just like I used to play baseball. Basically, the human brain is very good at depth perception. Its so good at it that you can get hit a ground ball, backhand it, turn towards first, and while being off balance--your brain will instantaneously tell your arm how hard to throw the ball and exactly when to release the ball from your hand--so that the ball hits the first baseman in the chest. I judge targets the same way I used to play baseball. I dont judge off of the ground or try to duplicate distances (find 10 then double that to my 20--then my 30---etc)....instead, I go straight to the target and let my mind tell me how far it is to the target. Basically, instead of having my mind tell me how hard and when to release the ball, I have it tell me a number. Eventually, youll get very good at judging like this...but its just like pitching or playing catch---it has to be practiced and cultivated into a skill. In the beginning of the season, youll miss some throws and instead of playing catch you end up making him chase a few bad throws or make him scoop some bad throws out of the dirt at his feet---but as the year goes on, your throws are supper accurate and they all are right at the persons numbers on his chest---the same is true if you learn to judge like this--expect rusty results at first but as you practice, your accuracy and confidence will increase drastically!!!!
