How I turned from Kejriwal supporter to Modi supporter: In early 2011, when IAC movement was at its peak, I was impressed with Kejriwal. Although I mainly supported Anna Hazare & Kiran Bedi, I was impressed with Kejriwal because he appeared to be more than just an activist. He was focused on anti-corruption and never mixed religion into the movement which was like a major breakthrough because I had always believed that mixing religion into politics or a political movement is usually the root of most of the problems of a nation (especially pseudo secularism). I found him to be honest & ethical. He looked like someone who could keep up his words/promises. By late 2011, as he began to grow his support-base in parallel (and influence Anna/IAC fans into becoming Kejriwal fans), I found it strange because IAC had already become a household name and there was no need to create another brand called Kejriwal. However, I still supported him but one particular incident forced me to rethink. It was his IT notice. i.e While he used to preach others about moral values, anti corruption & ethics, he was slapped a notice by IT dept in 2011 for not paying his income taxes. That was when I realized that he was a hypocrite and I started searching for some other politician to support. I was impressed by Modis development & governance in Gujarat but he was tainted due to the 2002 riots. I was one of his biggest critics back then. Check this discussion thread from 2011 where I had called him mass murderer, killer etc: https://facebook/guruprasad.gp/posts/224417800951559 In mid 2012, when he was given clean chit by SIT, it came as a shocker to me. How could the Supreme Courts Investigation Team give a clean to a mass murderer who had clearly given orders to kill minorities? Does that mean whatever I heard about him was false or manipulated? That was when I started doing more research about Modi and to my utter surprise, I found that I was actually a victim of media propaganda. For the next few months, I read the SIT report in detail, verified most of the facts, started digging into archives and was surprised to find (from reliable sources) that Modi had done his best to curb the 2002 riots but the media was desperate to portray him as demon by churning out hundreds of false stories/opinions and had become propaganda machines.. So, I started posting about media propaganda, Modis efforts in Gujarat and in 2013 I started writing Modi Phenomenon series of articles with facts & proofs to share my findings. By then, Kejriwal had become a politician and in 2013, he started showing his real colors. The moment he started mixing religion into politics, I realized that he was no different from other politicians. For example, calling Batla house encounter as fake and several other minority appeasement tactics were totally uncalled for because he had a clean slate which he unfortunately started spoiling himself. After Delhi elections, I was actually happy when Kejriwal became CM in Dec 2013. But his attitude & governance (dharnas, media attention, namecalling others, not taking action against Somnath Bharati for his midnight vigil & Prashant Bhushan for his Kashmir referendum) disappointed me. What was really saddening was the fact that he had absolutely no respect towards our nurtured institutions of Democracy, Constitution, Judiciary etc. I could not believe my ears when I heard him saying that he was an anarchist & would disrupt Republic day celebration. In mid Feb, resigning from Delhi Govt and running to Varanasi for Lok Sabha elections showed that his real intention was not in serving people but only to use every possible opportunity as his political ladder (now looking back in hindsight, it looks like he just used Anna Hazare & people of Delhi). While Kejriwal was indulging in theatrics, Modi was growing from strength to strength with maturity and responsibility. While Kejriwal was trying to provoke youngsters into believing that existing system of Parliamentary Democracy (which was laid by our visionaries after several years of brainstorming discussions during constitutional assembly) was of no use and one had to instead choose krantikaari methods like mohalla sabha, durbars, referendum & swaraj to change the system, Modi was trying to show youngsters that it was possible to work within this tried & tested system and progress with hard work & vision. While Kejriwal caught our attention by calling everybody as corrupt (except himself), Modi caught our attention by invoking nationalism & sharing his vision for the future of India. Hence, I had no choice but to switch from being a Kejriwal supporter to Modi supporter. Although I turned into a Modi supporter, it was only due to his ideas. I had always been telling that Modi for me is an idea, while ultimately, it is the national interest which matters. Hence, I have been criticizing Modi whenever I felt that he has gone against national interests. In future as well, I will continue to criticize Modi because not doing so would be like cheating my own conscience and nation as well. However, on the other hand, Kejriwal in my opinion has stooped down to such low levels now that I actually consider even Rahul Gandhi to be a better than him. Having said that, it is only the political aspect of Kejriwal that I criticize. At a personal level, I respect Kejriwal, Rahul & Modi equally. All of them are kind hearted, humanitarian, philanthropical. They have dedicated themselves for the service of the nation, which is actually commendable. Hence, everything that I have expressed here are purely based on their political aspects but not personal or overall aspects.
