How I wish you all could have been at the memorial service today for Waymon Bullock. It couldnt have been more perfect. The Waymon Bullock Memorial Band sounded fabulous as they played 2 of his arrangements and his march, Whirlwinds. The stories and remembrances provided by several area band directors had the entire audience laughing, crying, smiling and reliving moments of our own. It was so good to see old friends and classmates. There were lots of hugs, tears, fond memories and discussions well into the evening for some of us. I hope someone has a video of the service so I can get it posted. But, just as Stuart Bird said, Hes not gone. Hes here with us in this auditorium. Hes here in the Band Hall. And it was true...I could almost hear his laugh, see his wonderful smile and feel those great big hugs of his. And, Im sure I heard him emphatically say.....hit the yardline on your HEEL!!!! Rest in precious peace Mr. Bullock.
