How about some more interesting data about the Democratic Republic - TopicsExpress

How about some more interesting data about the Democratic Republic of the Congo? It has the 12th highest infant mortality rate in the world. Almost 75 out of every 1000 babies born there dies before it is a year old. For some comparison, the nation with the highest infant mortality in the world is Afghanistan, where 119 babies out of every 1000 (12%) born dies before the age of one. In the United States, just under 6 out of every 1000 babies dies before the age of one year old. That puts us with the 49th best infant mortality rate in the world. Your baby is more likely to survive its first year in such places as Greece, Slovenia, Belarus, Ireland, or Singapore. But back to the DRC, almost 8 out of every 100 babies dies before they reach one year old. In the DRC, there is about 1 doctor for every 10,000 people. In the US, there are about 25 doctors for every 10,000 people. I think Ill just leave those statistics for you to mull over. I found them at one of the gold standard world demographic sites: The CIA World Factbook. Ill share some more about the DRC and my mission trip there soon.
