How big does a forge need to be to produce the largest bits needed for a historic weapon? Well - Swiss Pikes eventually grew to a length between 22 and 25 feet long with up to 5 feet worth of steel tip - that 5 foot length needs a 6 foot long side blast forge - but the 20 foot long langets that would have been required for a supremely sturdy pike will need will still leave that 6 foot long forge needing handy holes cut in either long end and a heap of open space on both sides. Shop construction, what a planning challenge . . .
