How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships? A successful marriage requires faith—both in God and faith in each other. Faith in God is more than a theoretical belief in Him. To have faith in God is to trust Him, to have confidence in Him, and to be willing to act on our belief in Him. It is a principle of action. Shared faith in God can bind married couples and families together in a commitment to common values. It can lend them strength to overcome obstacles that might otherwise damage these important relationships. In successful marriages, couples trust each other. And they strive to prove worthy of their spouse’s trust. Any strong marital or family relationship must be based on mutual trust and trustworthiness. Faith in each other, like faith in God, can help couples and families face uncertainty and live up to high expectations.
