How concerned should we be about the arrival of an ebola-infected traveler in Dallas? Good question. I dont have a good answer. There are plenty of risks involved in air travel, including airborne illnesses (which ebola isnt) and, in my opinion, there are probably more serious health risks. But we should be concerned. The health experts say it should be possible to contain ebola, and I suspect they know what they are talking about. Meanwhile, we are more likely to catch flu, tuberculosis, head colds and other sicknesses if we spend several hours in an aircraft cabin. If you travel by air, make sure you practice good hygiene. Keep your hands clean and avoid unnecessary contact with fellow travelers. Trust me, we are watching this story and will react if it appears it is a serious health risk that has a local impact. If state or federal health agencies think this is a problem we need to worry about we will report it. Meanwhile we have plenty of other things to worry about. At least I do.
