How did I become a foreigner? I am not and I never plan to be... I have never been foreign-minded and never even thought about leaving me yard... school vehicled me here... Im passing through and exploiting the opportunities as they come. Do the same... I know all that is happening at my place everyday; I have dear friends, families and my daughter at home... it was never about slipping through the cracks of hardship and then criticize and laugh at my people (poor) cuz mon nuh pree the rich and me hate politics. I represent all the poor, hopeless, needy, forgotten and even the criminals... not the rapists and pedophiles. I am still standing tall for my friends that pushed me aside...The outcasts of society, yes I garner inspiration and strength from their situations. After one year away, I still remember blowing the wood fire, hunting the fire sticks, trying to patch the leaky roof, the duck ants in the doors, carrying water from far, wearing second hand clothes and shoes, taking what was never mine forcefully, selling in the markets, skipping school, going nights to bed without dinner. I sell everything I could find. I didnt know tv and radio... I had to make sure my nose was well clean everyday bcuz of the soot from the lamp. Bottle touch we used to finish late night cookings. 5 to one bed and it was just a double. Only mother I saw everyday when the youth was in trouble... Whatever job she got to do we did it together. I am happy with myself; I never grudge, never know badmind, never envy and I never sell my soul for things some people keep running after... I am just a survivor, a blessed youth... The Ghetto Governor, their light of hope... I stay true to overcoming the struggles. Thank God for education, the youth naturally quick to the book and thinking critically. So me nuh want nuh punk override me speech cuz me nuh novice to poverty and the struggles of my homeland.
