How did injured Journalist Haroon Siraj face doctors’ callousness? One of the most active and creative journalists of Swat Mr. Haroon Siraj who is a staffer of the English newspaper – Daily "Nation" was critically injured in a road accident at Swat valley on Monday. His head, legs and hands received serious injuries and he was rushed to local Hospital Saidu Sharif emergency ward. When I heard this news, I immediately inquired about his health and I was distributed to learn that in the hospital he was maltreated, and there was none to promptly provide him medically aid. The entire staff of the Emergency Ward in the hospital was absent and the hospital casualty ward was giving a deserted look. In such sorry state of affairs, Haroon has to cry for help in a very critical condition and he remained unattended as there was not any doctor nor any medical equipment was available. At last when his attendant contacted the Chief Executive Saidu Sharif group of hospital Dr. Taj Muhammad Khan and he was apprised with the health conditions of Mr. Haroon, he along with six doctors reached at the spot. It took almost 55 minutes for starting providing treatment to Haroon. However, the agony continued with him as when the doctor arrived, then there were no equipment nor any medicine etc. In this whole processes, he was bleeding continuously for want of required instruments and medicines. Subsequently, Haroon somehow became stable but confined to bed for rest for more than 4 weeks. The callousness of the doctors in such critical condition with the patients is nothing but condemnable. We should all pray for the fast recover of Mr. Haroon Siraj. Haroon is a son of great journalist of Sawt, Siraj-ud-Din (Shaheed), who was hit on 29th February 2008 in a deadly suicide attack in the funeral ritual of his brother-in-law, DSP Javed Iqbal. This incident claimed lives of over 60 innocent people including Haroon’s father, Siraj-ud-Din, cousin Habibullah and nephew Ghazan Khan. We should not forget such a great family.
