But for them, since theyre the enforcers, the fear must be intensified and nearly ever present to keep them locked into the R complex of the brain. Being locked into the fight or flight mode of the brain causes blood to flow to the extremities from the brain as a defence mechanism. When fear exists on a nearly permanent basis it causes measurable areas of in activity in the prefrontal cortex.
