How do parents do it? My dog had a meltdown today when I took out my overnight bag for a two-night trip to Maine. He cried and shook. He has just had too much change, too many people in and out of the house, too many trips, too much sharing me with other people and dogs. So we canceled the trip and he is happily puttering around in the yard burying a bone and lounging. I am glad he was able to express his distress and to communicate enough!! But I feel so guilty and I am trying to imagine how much harder it has to be to feel this responsible for the pain of a human child. I bow to you, parents!!
