Day 966: Evaluating the Worlds Wisdom 1 Corinthians 1:21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Thoughts for Today: The truths of God are highly logical, but they rely on a different type of logic than mans. Gods wisdom begins with our faith in His nature and existence -- His love and desire to provide the best for us. On the contrary, mans wisdom attempts an understanding that is separate from God. For example, a worldly wisdom would have us stockpile all we can -- to look out for ourselves first -- because if we dont, no one else will. Perhaps that would be good advice if there was no God and we were solely dependent upon ourselves. But God tells us to unselfishly share our resources (Luke 6:38): Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. We know Gods way is better, yet Christians are not to be mindless robots, oblivious to circumstance or preparedness. God gave us a brain, full of logic and reason, and He wants us to use both. We just always need to factor into our evaluations the truths of God first. Questions to Ponder: So how do we know if something is Gods wisdom or the worlds? Simple. Every true teaching, practice or doctrine is revealed in the life of Jesus, demonstrated in the Book of Acts, and taught by the Apostles. If anyone teaches anything different, reject it.
