Stephen Krausse General Manager at IXYS Colorado Top Contributor Usually, at least in my experience, narcosis is a relatively benign manifestation of poor coordination, slower/reduced cognitive reasoning and reduced decision making ability. I say benign because we learn to recognize it, ascend and recover without serious incident. But what happens when you dont recognize it or your buddy fails to? While I have personally never seen it as bad as Season 1, Episode 3 of Sea Hunt entitled Rapture of the Deep - poor decision making and cognitive reasoning at 100 can obviously lead to serious consequences.
